I used survs for a very long time, but switched to SurveyMonkey in May 2013. Advantages:

  • list them here

However, SurveyMonkey has a very misleading pricing model. It lists monthly rates for its plans, but only its basic premium package can be purchased monthly. All of the other packages are available in annual packages only. And, it does everything it possibly can to trick you into purchasing an annual plan. That really soured me on the tool.

SPSS is the Microsoft of data analysis tools. The cheapest license is over $2,000.

R is the open source granddaddy of data analysis tools. There's also PSPP.

And of course, there's always the good ol' fashion spreadsheet. You can do cross-tabs using pivot tables.
